It is a predatory mite called Stratiolaelaps scimitus (previously known as Hypoaspis miles) that lives in the upper part of the soil at a depth of 1 to 4 cm and preys on larvae, pupae and eggs of the soil fly and other harmful soil organisms, also controlling thrips. Due to its way of living, hidden in the soil, it reaches places that are difficult to reach with chemicals. The best way to work with Hypoaspis is to introduce it preventively above and below the pots where the soil fly also reproduces. The mite reproduces and disperses quickly and remains throughout the crop cycle. These insects can be seen in the soil and at the base of the stems of the plants. The pest is reduced slowly but continuously.
