How is ozone produced with the FA50 Ozonator?

There are basically two methods of ozone production, one is UV production and the other is corona discharge production. Corona discharges are silent and create ozone by applying high voltage to a metal grid sandwiched between two dielectrics.

The high voltage is passed through the dielectric to a screen and in the process, creates ozone from oxygen present in the chamber. Ultra-violet (UV) rays generate ozone when a lamp with a wavelength of 254 nm (nanometers) hits oxygen atoms.

Both processes split oxygen molecules into individual oxygen atoms. These atoms combine with another oxygen molecule (O2) to form ozone (O3). Corona discharge is approximately 10 times more powerful than UV lamps.
