Spidec (pHytoseiulus persimilis) is a predatory mite for biological control of red spider mites. It is the most widely used predator against this pest and an adult is capable of sucking 5 spider mites a day or 20 eggs or larvae (it preys on all stages of red spider mites).
Due to its great predatory and reproductive capacity, it eliminates the pest completely, being the most effective predator against red spider mites. For its application, there must be a pest and the relative humidity must not be too low. Introduce 10 per cutting as a preventive measure, and if there are outbreaks of the pest, introduce it on the outbreak and surrounding areas at a dose of approximately 50 per plant.
Use Spidex as a curative method when the first symptoms of the pest are observed or as soon as the first red spiders appear (which are found on the underside of the leaves). In case of serious infestation, a shock treatment with an acaricide is recommended a few days before the release of the predator to lower the pest level to a minimum. Intensify the release in the areas of greatest pest intensity (foci).
Application
The recommended dose is approximately 100 individuals per square meter, repeating the application weekly for a minimum of 3 applications (3 weeks in a row).
It is recommended to use it together with Spical.
